Teacher Bio

Michael S. Welch was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts in 1990. He moved to Florida at the age of 3 and has lived in Tampa, FL nearly his entire life. He attended Tampa schools since the age of 5. Beginning with Claywell Elementary, then moving to Ben Hill Middle, Michael has always enjoyed being a student and specifically preferred History and Geography classes as a child. In 2004 he entered into the International Baccalaureate Program at Hillsborough High and in 2008 he graduated with his I.B. Diploma.

Beginning in the Fall of 2008, he began attending Florida State University. He switched majors many times from History to Religion to Education before he finally decided to pursue his Bachelor's Degree in Media and Communication Studies. This was largely inspired by his love of Sports Broadcasting as well as sitcom writing. While pursuing his degree, he worked as an audio producer for ESPN Tallahassee, a position which continued after his graduation.

In 2011, Michael moved back to Tampa to pursue his love of teaching as well as to get married to his high school girlfriend. He began working as a full time tutor in 2011 and quickly realized that the classroom was where he belonged.

Michael is happily married to his wife, Henri. They live in Carrolwood and enjoy watching sitcoms (particularly Frasier and 30 Rock), taking care of their dog, Wicket, and going to Disney World. Michael plans to enter the classroom in 2013-2014 as a middle school math teacher.
